As I was looking around at parts cars last Saturday, I suddenly remembered how much work I went through to get a good set of headlights for my Subaru. Are any of you using any kind of lighting protectors? If so, what kind, and do you like them?

I used wire mesh that is designed to keep leaves out of house gutters. I trimmed it to fit inside of the tin ring that surronds the lights. I got the idea from Eyesore! Take a peek! Kurt

That looks pretty good. I've got an 86 with the huge rockcatcher headlights. I'd probably have to modify that to give some clearance for flex. I was also thinking about clear acrylic.

I had some aftermarket plastic protectors on my '88. I bought them with the new car. They bent around the side and worked well.

This is the stuff I use. Not as cheap as it used to be. I put it on the driving lights, headlights and fog lights. Works great.

The company I used to get it from only sells it inthe 100 foot roll, now. So, I hope this stuff works as well.

I've got StonGard protection on mine, but they're not in business anymore. It's a sheet of flexible clear vinyl, about 1/16" thick that sticks to the headlamps. Works really well, and it's pretty much invisible.

 

 

You can get something similar at www.clearbra.com, I think. RainbowRoo's stuff is very similar as well.

Thanks. Both of those are a little expensive, but a lot cheaper than a new headlight.
