November 17, 200520 yr i just had another spark-plug blow out though it's not the same subaru.it happened the first time on my 92 legacy(that was my fault, the plug kept coming loose short after i'd tighten it) this time i'm just driving along then POP then she starts to run really sh*ty.you can smell the gas coming out of the spark plug hole and it almost sounded like an exhaust leak. well i pull over real quick an open the hood,i see the plug laying there and go to reach for it to inspect it(it falls before i could get it,out of reach now) first time this happened, plug wire held onto plug, not this time.for some reason that small nipple on top of the plug came off and was stuck in the wire(got it out) now i have to hali-coil another spark-plug back in. if things weren't bad enough with me being out of work an all. (still can't find that dang plug,i think it landed on the cross-member under the engine or somewhere out of sight an reach)
November 17, 200520 yr It kind of amazes me to hear about these incidents. I have never seen this kind of thing happen. If you need some help with this perhaps there is a member nearby that can help you out. Sorry to hear about the work situation but something will come along.

Sorry to hear about the work situation but something will come along. i have a interview with lowes tomorrow, crossing my fingers. weeks before the first time happened.i was hearing a tick, turns out the tick was the loose plug.maybe that's what was causing the tick this time around.maybe it's not a lifter.

November 18, 200520 yr I've never actually had this problem, but when I first bought my subie one of the spark plugs was actually loose and nearly rattling (plug #1 I think). Noticed it when I decided to just change them. Hopefully some thread locker will do the trick! i just wanted to update.it has been heli-coiled an it's all bk together.i gotta let it sit over night so the thread locker has time to set-up.(thread locked the sleeve in)
November 18, 200520 yr Author plug num 1 is the left side (drivers-side) front plug? am i correct cause that's the one that popped out on me.(this time)
November 18, 200520 yr Author where did all the shavings go when you drilled and tapped for the heli cor? didn't really drill.the tap we used bored out the bad threads and also tapped in new threads for the sleeve that the spark-plug screws into. we put lithium grease(?) on the tap which caught most of the shavings.any that were missed were picked out with a flat head screw-driver with some of the grease on it so the shavings would stick.then i hooked up the battery and cranked it till it just started to blow out anything else missed.
November 18, 200520 yr Plug #1 is on the front passenger side. The one you worked on is #2. plug num 1 is the left side (drivers-side) front plug? am i correct cause that's the one that popped out on me.(this time)
