4 way flashers

Featured Replies

The four way flasher for our 1990 Legacy are cancelling out our turn signals when turned on, and will not flash on their own.

Any ideas?

do you have normal turn signals ? when you turn on the flashers do they work? With the 4 ways on they should over ride the turn signals. 4 ways have a higher priority then turn signals (in most cars).

That's normal. The 4 way flashers uses the same amber bulb as the turn signal, so if you use the 4 way flashers, using a turn signal won't do anything since all the "turn signal" bulbs are flashing. If you need to use a turn signal, turn off the 4 way flashers. On some cars that uses the same bulb for brake lights and turn signals, pressing the brake will cancel out the 4 way flashers until you release the brake and then they will return to normal.

No it does not work on its own and I have replaced the flasher and the switch. Is there anything else in that circuit.

you might look under the baqck and see3 if there was ever tow hitch on the car and check for any splices, bad connections, shorts under there. have you tried taking out the 4way flasher and then trying the turn signals?

Turned out to be the bond between the relay and the frame.

Thanks for your input
