Leaking transmission in 84 GL station wagon

Featured Replies

Is a leaky transmission fixable or should I have the transmission replaced. I am not a t all mechanically inclined so I don 't know what to do. Any help out there. What is happening is my auto transmission won 't go into 3rd gear...thanks...:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

not to say you overlooked the obvious, but is your fluid at the right level? too little and bang, no shift into 3rd. happened with mine, actually it started to slip until i realized how little fluid i had. it might also help to know what kind of car you have.

Lots of threads on this. Look for auto fluid, auto govenor, auto tranny. Just done all of this to 93 auto GL. Fairly easy, auto pan gasket, clean and deburr govenor, couple of changes of tranny fluid in a row. Works great now:)
