rear control arm removal.

Featured Replies

i have found another control arm, but i can't get it off. its all unbolted, just cann't get the axle off from the diff or the brake drum. the pin won't come out of the axle and the hub won't come off of the axle. so what can i do, do i need a wheel puller? would a control arm from a ea-81 wagon be the same as my hatch? cause i know were there is a wagon that is a lot closer and i could make all the noise i want.

From what I've read on here, the rears can be a pain to get off, as they rust onto the stubs. PB Blaster penetrant may help, along with some heat, pry bars, and hammer blows. Haven't pulled a rear axle myself yet, but I've got a couple of them to do, probally be in the same boat as you. All of the EA-81 axles are the same on the rear, fronts may vary in the diameter of the shaft between FWD and 4WD but they still fit the same.

well the control arm from the wagon is out of the question. so its off to the jy in the snow. only thing i can think to bring is a bfh and some lquid wrench. my brother said he used a splitingmal to brak the axle loose on the front of his hatch. any help would be f-ing cool.

seems odd, the front axles on my 88 hatch came out no sweat, the p side one was original. the rears can be a pain, mine came out with a bfh and some penetrating oil.
