Well, I did it...I purchased my 1st Subaru today...!

It's a 1989 GL Wagon with 117,000 miles on it.

The body, pretty rusted around the wheel wells, and doors are feeling the pain too...will need new front tire, and the front driver's side panel is dented...the engine is not working, fuel pump was out but it did start up with the old owner putting fuel in the injector-or so he said-but he found antifreeze in the oil, started draining the engine but left it to sit for almost 1 1/2 years...going to tackle that first thing, the belts are all shot(not a big deal)...interior is very nice, no rips in seats, dash in great shape, head liner, etc...I plan on just doing a complete overhaul if it seems worth it...

That is the quick and dirty about it, point is I snagged it for $75 with a good title, maybe too much for it, but I wanted a "beater" and a soob to tear the engine down and begin experimentation with, etc...looks like I found it!

I'll post pics of it ASAP and any progress I make as well.

I go next week to pick up my '82 Brat as well!! Yeah!

Yet another reason I want this wagon to mess with, before I tear into the Brat!

Sounds nice for only $75! Very cool.Sounds like a worthy candidate for a lift and some knobby tires.:)

dang mine was $100 i got ripped off:-p

sweat deal

$75! Hehehehe......I only paid $50 for my hatch. But of course that doesn't count the several hundred $$$ I've dumped into to get it drivable. So I guess you still win... j/k :)

Welcome to the club!

Got my 89 GL wagon for free and the leaky head gasket and cracked heads at no extra charge. Clean car, put in a $140 engine and I'm off and running. Welcome to the board.

Got my 89 GL-10 for free. Put about $500 into it to get it up and going again. Turned around and sold it for $1,700:grin: .

sweet you got ripped i bought my 6 for 1,400 no clutch and have dropped two grand into on top of that it's expensive but i like it

oh ya welcome to the board

I was just glad to find a subaru in this area! They seem to be in short supply...or coveted by those who have them and thus never bring them out of storage and into the light of day....oh yeah, I expect to pump a bit more money into this one...so the original $75 will skyrocket....

I was able to get my '82 Brat yesterday. Man, is it nice! Sure a few things to fix but in all the brat is in good shape. I will post some pics in the next few days of what it looks like. I think this will be my daily driver once the clutch is fixed. I'll keep the wagon as a project and loan it out to my Parents as needed-they need a "beater" too...and the 2nd Brat I am picking up just before christmas...it will be my project "wilderness vehicle"....
