OldSubaruDriver Posted December 9, 2005 Share Posted December 9, 2005 I was driving home, when my ole' Legacy just died. I tried replacing the alternator, but that wasn't it. Also tried a coil. Not it either. The starter will turn, but I don't think that I'm getting any spark. I'll try listening to see if the fuel pump is working, but I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thank you. beezer Posted December 9, 2005 Share Posted December 9, 2005 Is there any check engine light on? Check out legacy777 website for retrieving trouble codes. Could be the crank sensor, maybe the igniter. If you have a Haynes repair manual, it gives a pretty good description on how to test everything. I have a Chilton's manual, so I'll check on the igniter too. Is there any check engine light on? Check out legacy777 website for retrieving trouble codes. TheBrian Posted December 10, 2005 Share Posted December 10, 2005 You're going to spend a fortune on parts unless you take a scientific approach. Check for spark, inspect the timing belt, measure the fuel pressure. I would also recommend you find a troubleshooting flowchart. Start at "engine turns but does not start". Remove one of the plastic caps on the timing belt cover and verify that the timing belt is in tact, and/or the cam pullies rotate when you rotate the engine by the crank.
