Adam Lee
Hey...I am trying to figure out if the "connector" straight pipe with resonator, which goes from the cat to the muffler bent pipe, can simply be replaced with a straight 3' length of pipe. What I'm asking is, the resonator factory-style pipe isn't necessary right? Walker pipe sells a straight section to fit this application for 39 bucks at Advance Auto....better than the nearly 200 with a resonator... tunered
i cant imangine a 3foot piece of pipe worth 39 dollars but maybe so,i cant see where it would hurt anything, maybe a tad louder but will work.

cookie
because of an innate cheapness I have removed the resonator from a couple of cars when they got old and rusted. My last 85 Mercedes had a rear resonator that they wanted the price of a Hummer for. I took it to a muffler shop and had it replaced with a straight section of pipe for under fifty bucks. The car still had a cat and a muffler and it was just a tiny bit louder.
Setright
Yes, you can replace it. The exhuast sound might become a tiny bit more lively, but in no way is it dangerous.
