December 22, 200520 yr want to install some remote door locks in my cars and my parents. i understand i need to install the actuator only on the drivers side and then obviously it will activate the switch to unlock the others. how hard is this actuator to install, anyone do it, pictures? i can't picture what it would be attached to. drilling, all bolt on if i use the universal units?
December 22, 200520 yr I did it this summer, it's really not that difficult at all (at least in a 1996 legacy.) I didn't take pics or anything, but if I recall, the best mounting location is in the lower left side of the door (when you are looking at it...) My kit used full sized actuators, so it was a bit of a squeeze, but it will fit. After you hook it all up, make sure you test it while the skin is still off the door to avoid trouble later. Best of luck.
December 22, 200520 yr Author so the directions that come with it are adequate for someone that's never done it before? just needs to be mounted and run power to the unit right?
December 22, 200520 yr I put keyless entry into my '95 leggy last summer as well. These files should help you picture what your getting into. http://scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4607
December 22, 200520 yr Author anyway to post those files here or email them? i can't sign in.... thanks for the pointers!
December 22, 200520 yr Done it in my 96 legacy, had to shave a little on the inside door skin and drill a few holes but was not that bad. couple of hours. the driver side door was it. it will unlock the rest. MCM electronics was where I bought my actuator.
December 22, 200520 yr Which car(s)? I know that dptyrob (sp?) went through this on an ea82-type about a year ago.
