December 25, 200520 yr Can the ring gear, or the whole differential assembly in the Sube trannies, and rear diff housings be flipped around to give you reverse rotation of the tires? I know it's done in VW trannies.
December 25, 200520 yr I dont think so. I know for a fact the rear diff cannot be swapped into the front. It is possible to have custom machined a reverse set of ring/pinion....
December 25, 200520 yr I had thought of that so i took apart a 5 speed D/R. There is no way to flip the diff in the tranny that i could see. If some one dose I would like to know how.
December 25, 200520 yr What you might be able to do is to get the gear reduction hubs off of a Syncro, that would reverse the spin on the hub, so you wouldn't have to reverse the tranny output. it would definately be a custom one off application, but it might be worth looking into.
December 25, 200520 yr Can not be flipped... look here for more: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41009&highlight=flipped+hypoid+spiral Gary
December 26, 200520 yr Author Coll, thanks. I was following this thread, http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49123 And thought it would be cool to have more gears in reverse!
