Input shaft gasket leak

Featured Replies

How do you get the input shaft carrier off the tranny? My chilton won't tell me.I need to fix an oil leak before i put the tranny in the rig.

I've taken many Subaru transmissions apart but it's been about 8 years since the last time. If I remember right you need to split the transmission case to get the carrier out because the gear at the end of it is a little bigger then the hole in the case. If it doesn't come out after removing the 3 bolts that hold it in, then you need to split the case. If it dose come out, make sure nothing drops down into the case.

Thanks. I guess this will be the first transmission I have put 'under the knife'.
