I would like to know if anyone can tell me if some of the internals of a hydro lifter block and solid are the same? The crank?Also are the connecting rods the same?I am assuming that they both are.I think the only differences in the internals is the block and the cam, pushrods and the rocker shafts.Am I correct in my assumption?Thank you all for the help.

Ay? only if you regrind it - very different profiles between hydro and solid - solid has a slower initial slope to take up the clearance, running a hydro cam with solid lifters is no good. Not sure about using solid cam with hydro lifters, might not be a problem, but i wouldn't be keen to risk it.

 

 

As far as i know, the rocker shafts are the same.

The differences in a solid lifter engine vs. a hydro lifter engine for you Jerry...

the lifters (duh! *smacks forehead*)

If you can get those items from a hydro lifter engine, you can swap them into a solid lifter block. If you want a good solid lifter block, I got a couple, one has about 100k miles on it;)

I have a solid lifter engine I tore down and wanted the internals. I am only going to keep the crank and the con rods.I want to get rid of the block and heads and cam.I also have the pistons which are in good shape.Anyway that is why I asked my question.

 

BTW-When I was pulling the engine apart I read an earlier post by Shawn W about disassembly and it was very helpfull.I overlooked several times that one remaining bolt down inbetween the 2 cylinders on the right side of the engine.Very nice to know.Thanks

So in what way are the rockers different? Reason i ask, my ea81t has had solid lifters retrofitted, and still has the hydro pushrods and rockers.

Dunno for sure,but,the hydro pushrods are longer.The rocker assy. has different part#s.Could be the difference is as small as the added lockwasher for hydro cars.

 

EDIT-Turns out the rocker arms themselves are different too.
