How do i kno if the transmission is Connected?

Featured Replies

I saw the wiring on the transmission and i wanted to see if its working, or the wiring might be screwed. But can it work without the TCU connected?

It may shift manually from first to 3rd without the TCU, but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure what you are looking at or what you are doing with the connector off.

No, its connected but im trying to figure out if maybe the connections are messed so my drive solenoid isnt working. Because i tryed to test the OHMS and nothing showed up, i grounded it and checked all the pins but nothing.

Wish I could help, but with no schematic or working knowledge of the system, I don't have much input.

It's possible the tranny has to be hooked up for the computer to send out the signals to energize the solenoids. As far as ohming anything out, you could check across the solenoid windings in the tranny. They would probably all read a couple hundred ohms.

What is the problem or issue that you have, and what is the model, year, mileage and engine on the car.

If it is a computer controled tranny, the computer controls all the shift points. When you drive the car manually, that over rides the computer and your selection takes precident. The car will force an upshift if you rev the enigne high enough in any gear.

So its definitely connected but it i checked the pin for the drive solenoid c and i dont get 13ohms does that mean its dead, or disconnected?

you get no reading, it means the solenoid coil is "open" ... meaning dead. DO you have a CEL or trannylight on?

What are you trying to fix..

ok that confirms it, you need to replace the solenoid

Are you running two threads on the same problem?
