Bad Trip Odometer

Featured Replies

Hello, I am on the verge of purchasing a 98 Legacy OB and the resetable trip meter is broken. Will i have to replace the whole speedometer unit and have the miles matched to a new or used one or can I just replace the part in question. Thanks

Taylor

i had one of these apart. You just have to replace the head unit, not the entire cluster. Also its not that hard to match up the miles if your machancially inclined.

Exactly how is it broken?

The trip meter simply is stuck between all 4444 and 5555. Usually i wouldn't care but i use these meter's to figure out gas mileage. I can get a new speedo unit used for 50 bucks. But i don't want to have to pay someone to match the mileage on the odometer. It doesn't appear to be to difficult to pull the instrument cluster, but i am concerned about matching mileage. Thanks!!
