EA82T short sump?

Featured Replies

does anyone see a problem with shorting the sump about 1" along with the pickup tube? my engine is in a vw baja bug and i would like to gain the same clearance i had with my pos aircooled engine:P thanks Ty

EDIT: VErsion 2: I'm dumb. I get it.

You might not have as much oil...maybe have an oil resivor? Like they do with VW bajas.

generally pan=stump

yes, as long as you are picking up oil with the pump you should be fine (keep in mind, that you will need more oil for high rpms) - keep in mind, the bigger the stump, the cooler the oil as the other purpose of the stump is to cool the oil - my big concern would be that you may cook the oil in the engine - one who has done more with that than I would be needed to answer that question definatively, yes/no, but I would at the very least have an oil temp gauge installed - if you are shortening it a little I don't see a problem

All I can think of is your oil might be a little hotter cause there is less of it, run an oil cooler to fix it.
