February 4, 200620 yr so the today i was looking under the hood tightening stuff and what not, then i finished, closed the hood and heard the socket tumble (that sound when you leave tools under the hood). so i went to pop the hood and snap.. here comes the hood cable.. dang.. so any tips? i believe it broke near the clasp itself. thanks in advance rllywgn
February 4, 200620 yr had that prob once, I got it open by taking the grill off and fishing the end of cable out and tying a loop as a temporary fix, shocking timing I had blown a head and was topping radiator fluid all the time 2000k's from home
February 4, 200620 yr gemery10 has the right idea; then head for Pull a Part and get replacement cable (get a 2nd for a spare); they aren't too difficult to replace.
February 4, 200620 yr Author ill start digging in there... 8 subaru's so far... i guess it had to happen sometime, first for everything rllywgn
February 4, 200620 yr http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31328&highlight=hood+release+cable the biggest problem is that you can't easily get the grill off without breaking something... good luck
February 4, 200620 yr I'd try releasing the hood release with a screwdriver first; if that doesn't work for you, I guess you can try removing the grill.
