3at motor swap in to 4mt car

Featured Replies

ok there are two vacume silynoid on the intake manifold of the 3at motor, they are the same both with two hoses and two wires that run into two seperate white coneters. the motor form the the with the 4mt dosn't not have it. so what are these for? can i bypass them?

Sounds like the EGR and Purge solenoids..

Not all cars have them . My first turbo car (a 3AT) didn't have them. My most recent turbo car (also a 3AT originally) did..

If thats what they are, they can be bypassed.. may affect emissions though.

It may save some headaches if you take the intake along with everything attached to it from your old motor and bolt it to you're new one. The Subaru shop I worked at did this on every swap they did.

i thought of swaping intake manifolds, but the carb on the bad motor has fallen apart. i would just have to swap carbs. but didn't want to mess with the motor since i know it runs well.
