Hey

I Have 97 Legacy Outback 2.5l Dohc. 182000 Miles.

Just Did Valve Job On Both Heads. Have New Head Gaskets Obviously. New Water Pump, Thermostat And Front, Rear And Cam Seals.

Car Is Runnig Great I Think.

No Over Heating Lights Are Coming On And Temp Gage Stays Just Below Medium. Haven't Seen It Go Past Since I Rebuilt The Engine.

I Was Adding A Half Quart Of Oil Yesterday And When I Opened The Filler Cap Saw Smoke Or Steam Coming Out Of It.

Is This Normal Or Is My Car Running Hot.

Like I Said Haven't Seen A Sign Of It Overheating But I Have Never Seen Smoke Come Out Of Oil Filler

Help?

On an old car it usually means that you have a little less power and when the oil rings are also tired it may mean you use some oil. On my 125,000 mile Forester I imagine I have a bit of blowby but I'll just keep oil in it and go fro 200,000.

nope, you have piston ring blow-by, not a big problem as long as you dont start to use a lot of oil, the it starts to foul plugs, gets crappy mileage and starts clogging things up. while you had the heads off you could have pulled the pistons and put new rings on.....but woulda, shoulda, coulda.
