March 12, 200620 yr How come GL10 wagons (and sedans?) got the rubber trim on the bottom rear corner of the back doors and none of the other cars did? What was the advantage of this? It looked like a continuation of the mudflaps.
March 12, 200620 yr It was just an extra perk you got when buying the top of the line. Oh.. and they are a serious pain in the rump roast to remove:mad:
March 12, 200620 yr Author what was the point? i mean they look cool, but do they stop rust or keep you from dinging others doors?
March 12, 200620 yr I think they were just there for show, and to designate the na from the turbos. My 87 sedan also has the fin o the trunk so thas anoher sighn, also the dead giveaway of the turbo decal on both back doors. They do not stop rust, on mt 87 atleast there is some behind there. Also one is missing a door part and the other is half riped o from the rocker. :-\
March 12, 200620 yr . Also one is missing a door part and the other is half riped o from the rocker.:-\ I wish mine woould just come off.. Trying to get them off without messing the door up is lame. But the RX side skirts won't go on without taking those stupid things off first. I have been neglecting my wagon.. when it gets back from the shop, I think I am going to finish ripping those things off and get the rest of my RX parts on there
March 13, 200620 yr Author A couple of dumb questions? Were all GL10s turbo? Did n/a GL10s have the black rubber door thingy? Did the GL10 coupes have this? Thanks. -Jack
March 13, 200620 yr I think all subaru Gl-10's are turbo because my friend had a 91 Gl and it was NA. As for the rubber side trim I also think it was a turbo only thing and came on all turbo wagons, and sedans. Not sure about the turbo coupes.

(strictly talking EA82 GL10s here). Some are SPFI. As far as the rubber stuff goes, As far as I know, its a GL-10 thing. My 88 SPFI GL10 wagon had it. My 88 Turbo GL did not. Oh, and your friend's 91, if it is a 91, its a Loyale, not a GL (last GL was 89). Most of the loyale's were kinda stripped down models. Last turbo was in 90 I think .. though it could have been 91.
March 13, 200620 yr All of my XTs and one XT6 have also had this rubber moulding. (2 XT GL-10 Turbos, one '86 fwd and one '87.5 FT4WD, my mom's '88 XT GL automatic, and an '89 XT6 that I didn't have very long).
