  1. While sourcing some bushes at a Subaru Dealer, I glanced through his Parts book and did not notice the rod to be different between the boxes. However the part on the far left in my picture appeared to be different on a F/T 4WD setup - can anyone confirm that?
  2. Thanks for the replies. I was told when I put this in that I would have shorten and twist the rod (as you can see in the pics - thats what I did). If it helps its a Gen2 Dual Range box. Without this mod - my gear lever leaned right over. My Hi/Lo lever is fine - I have a 2" lift and feels perfect. Is it possible the smaller coupling (to the left in the pic) is different? It "pins" to the gearbox apparently. Maybe someone that has access to part numbers can tell me if they are different?
  3. Cmon guys - someone must know the difference in the linkages of a Full Time Box and a standard box? Not easy to compare these in Australia - coz the Full Time 4WD boxes just don't exist here.
  4. Hoping someone can point out where the difference is here... I replaced my standard D/R 4WD gearbox with a Full Time 4WD D/R Box. I did a "cut and twist" on my existing linkage rod from the standard box. The shifter still wasn't 100% so I wanted to get factory linkages with the box. In the picture below - you can see the one I have modified (on the far right - some time ago now). And the other pictured one is supposed to be from a Full Time 4WD Box. However it just looks like the one from my standard box before I modified it. Can someone please tell me (pictures would be good too) where the difference is in the linkages in these two boxes? I just want factory linkages so it shifts properly. Any help is appreciated.
  5. And no doubt, the cars have had improvements
  6. Can someone provide me with a photo or diagram showing the differences between the selector rods of an RX Full Time box and a standard Part Time box? When I say "selector rod" - I mean the rod that goes from the base of the gearshift to the gearbox. Any help appreciated
  7. The blower in my EA82 does not do it for me. It doesn't appear to be blocked or anything. I have an '06 Holden Commodore (Australian GM car) and it has a blower in that causes a gale - which I do like. Does anyone know of a car that I can retrofit a blower from - or even an aftermarket unit that would move the air quicker? Any help appreciated!
  8. Good call Rooinater - I think sometimes people lose sight in that we all have a keen interest in Subarus. I think BOTH boards have merits as well as disadvantages. Car and Driver play a part in how well a car does. My EA82 has taken me where I point it. While I am not afraid of a challenge, I dont take my car where I know it's bound to break :-\
  9. LOL Zefy - yes thats the dash centre you sent me. I bought the steering wheel from NZ - I think they might be in the US/Canada as well...(?) It is a Momo item. You will need the "boss kit" (maybe called an "adaptor kit" over there) to get it on. Let me know if your stuck and interested in getting one.
  10. 1991 Australian EA82 / L Series that started life off as a DL.... Steering Wheel is off a Legacy GT with the help of a boss/adaptor kit, Upgraded to an RX Dash -: Pioneer MP3/CD Player, Uniden CB, and an RX Centre Console -: Many thanks to the people on this board from the US, Canada, and NZ that took the time to send me the RX parts
  11. Whats the grand plan Phizinza? For the love of God, don't break that Full Time box
  12. These aren't EA82s (aka L Series) GD - they are EA81s or MYs. But in any case, they are not common by any means - and GD is very probably correct in saying they didnt hit US shores officially. I think using an EA82 5 Speed is a lot more highly desirable for EA81 owners anyways.
  13. I'd agree with that Redskin - the books I have refer to the more luxurious MYs with 4x4 5 speed.
  14. I've got several books here referring to "4x4 5 Speed Dual range" boxes in EA81s.. Are we sure they never existed?
  15. Quickly scanned but couldnt see anyone replying to the Q about how the diff lock actuates. On the centre console there is a diff lock switch - this operates a vacuum solenoid on the front left strut tower. From this two vacuum lines run down to a diaphraghm that pushes and pulls the diff lock lever on the box.
  16. Phizinza - just to make doublely sure - you realise that these boxes have a poor low range? They low is not nearly as good as the standard L Series/MY D/R boxes. I went through this fantastic process in my L Series recently - I swapped the low range from a standard D/R L box to the Full Time Box. Bloody beautiful box to drive with. Just for the record Standard L Series Full Time Low : 1.196:1 Standard L Series Part Time Low : 1.592:1 The MY low is something like 1.4xx:1 If fitting to an L Series, you have to modify the existing shifter and get different CVs. I bought MPFI complete shafts (25 spline on the output from the box). Just to make your day these boxes are rarer than rocking horse sh*t in Australia but they are out there. Don't know if you already knew that - but just thought I'd let you know (For the benefit of those who don't know what I am talking about, L Series = EA82, MY = EA81)
  17. Ahem - who pulled WHO out Stinky? Which car DIDNT get bogged? Nah totally agree though - I'd love to get a locker. LSD will do for me though.
  18. LOL yes - its called Australian slang
  19. Just on that - you might want to check that your wheel fits on that boss kit too.
  20. Well - you could try this mob. They have a listing for the EA82 boss. I am unsure if its available or not. Prepare your Swedish Kronas though! http://www.dalhems.se/stylingsidor/peugvolv.html#anchor15072825 Cost the equivalent of about A$70 before freight.
  21. Well its the same as Carfreak85's by the look of it - but I have a new wheel. This one is second hand off a Legacy GT. It is a Momo wheel with the Saas Boss (Adapter) Kit. A lot better than my previous one - At least I can see the gagues and its a lot easier to steer.
  22. Autotecnica on a Saas Boss Kit. I will be getting a slightly bigger Legacy/Momo wheel soon
  23. I have heard of people seeing these factory oil pressure and volt gagues down in front of the gearshift (replacing the cubby hole) on EA82s - but never seen pics. Has anyone got any photos of this setup? It came out on EA82s with digital dashes.. yes?
  24. Me, myself, and I Tell me an email addy and I'll send them over to you.
