  1. YES!! I found one! haha only cost me 80 bucks and was in the town nearest me lol. Spline fits, taper is a bit out but nothing a file cant fix
  2. Nup they're completely different. Iv got a boss kit for my 94 legacy and it doesnt fit any of my L-series leones.
  3. Can anyone out there supply me with a boss kit for a leone between the ages of 85 and 88? I have been trying to find one for bloody ages and my efforts have proved unsecessful. I know they r increadibly hard to find hence im looking outside nz. I need it for my 86 RX Coupe.
  4. Down here in New Zealand I only paid $20 for a complete gasket set from exhaust to head gaskets!!
  5. Hi guys, I saw on another thread some guy mentoned he had done a 5 lug conversion. I have heard of 6 stud (done that myself), but how do you manage a 5 stud? Are they the same as the legacy 5x100 offset? Would like to get a decent set of non leone mags for my RX coupe but need a more common stud pattern. Thanks in advance for any help.
  6. Hi there, was hoping someone could tell me what ratio my gearbox is as I no longer have the rear diff that went with it. Its out of a 1986 leone (or GL wagon as you guys in the US call it), its a turbo box, dual range, with diff lock. Help would be great.
  7. Its not the cam belts is it. I had a mate who had a similar problem and the cam belt had broken. Just a thought.
  8. Does it have fuel injection? If so it sounds like the engine is running to rich. Is the oxygen and air flow sensor hooked up?
  9. By the lifter do you mean the mechanism in the engine that raises and lowers the car with height control? If so: has the height been removed from the car? My car is practically the same as yours and it has the same problem - it makes a rattly noise in the engine. There is one really cheap, easy option you can try. Its not guaranteed to work but if the noise goes away then it has fixed the problem. Drain the oil (keep it since its new), and then put 3 litres of automatic transmission oil in. Then idle the engine for an hour. Don't drive it whatever you do just idle it. Since transmission oil is thinner than regular oil it should go through the engine and get oil into all small places, injectors, etc. and remove air bubbles. Finally remove and put original engine oil back in. If you don't do something about the problem then the engine will basically destroy itself. I received all this information from the local garage when I took it for a warrant of fitness. Hopefully this helps.
  10. Thanks a lot guys, my knowledge has just greatly increased. I know the difference between all the different types of suspension (independant, fixed, etc.), and if you had called the axles, drive shafts then I would've known what you were talking about the entire time. I suppose thats the disadvantage of living in different countries! ha ha. I'm gutted I can't lift the engine as well cos that means the car is lower to the ground than I want it even with big tyres. I like to drive through deep rivers and ruts so there is obviously a problem. It would work if I lengthened the drive shafts wouldn't it? My two stuffed gearboxes do have ripped boot covers on both of them so that is probably the problem. I now understand the importance of having them full of grease! One problem I see with raising the car, as I see in one of your pics, is when you block up the springs without lengthening the arm, then the tyre is not flat on the ground but on a slight angle. Now you wont get as much traction cos the whole tyre is not on the ground. Is that right?
  11. What do you mean by pulling an axle? and by a welding spool do you mean open it up and weld the diff up? If the front axle is the problem would the gearbox be damaged or is the axle in the gearbox? I probably sound like a retard asking these questions but its better than pretending to know what your talking about. It does make horrible sounds. Yea, with lifting the car, I don't just want to raise the body, I want to raise everything so the car doesn't ground itself? Would this pose a problem with the drive shaft length?
  12. Hi there. Was wondering if anyone could help me with a few queries I have regarding turning my leone (not sure what its called in the US) into an off-road buggie. What sort of rear diff should I use. I have a full-time 4WD lsd diff I am planning on using. Is it true its not the best one for off-road use? Secondly I have broken 2 gearbox's in other cars by 4WDriving around a river bed. They are permantly in 2WD despite the fact they are supposed to be in 4WD, and drive is only delivered to the rear wheels. Are these gearbox's just unreliable or is it me? Also how do people raise their cars so much, I mean the drive shafts wouldn't be long enough would they? How do you extend them? Thanks for any help.
