Oil Fill Line | Oil Leak

Featured Replies

Noticed some smoke under my 98 outback. A not too bad oil drip was causing it.. So i check the Oil Levels and noticed the Oil is a little above the "FULL" line on the dip stick. Could this cause an oil leak? I got my oil changed at a local garage...

Thanks!

SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:horse:

what is the year and mileage on the car grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

my guess is that it is cam seals and or main seal

if you can see the drip my gut tells me its the main seal behind the crankshaft pully. The main seal and cam seals need to be replaced, and the poil pump resealed. It gets disturbing when you park the car and it looks like its on fire. You should replace the seals before it gets that bad.

How much should it cost me to have the main seal behind the crankshaft pully repleace?

Thanks!

this is one of those "as long as we are there" things. Before i can answer, when was the last time the timing belt was changed, and was the water pump replaced at that time.

My 95 Legacy LS looks like it's on fire when it's parked after a while of driving. I haven't gotten around to replacing all that needs to be replaced on it, primarily due to price concerns. Lastly, I have other issues I need to resolve on the thing, such as the Primary 02 sensor that needs replacing, the spark plugs that need replacing, (I was about to do that myself until I found out that someone had put some sort of sleeve on the plugs on one of the cylinders, and I threw my hands up into the air on that one and gave up. I mean, WTF? I was undaunted by the state of the car at first, but I'm not sure its prior owners knew what "maintenance" meant.
