March 15, 200620 yr Ok, ok I know ... bad pun but I really need to find some decient winter tires .. tired of my swampers slidding all over on ice ... I have a pic here of the general idea of the traction I need, aggressive, self-cleaning and a tire with an over-all size at or below 26" ... idealy a 195/75-14 (nothing bigger than205/74-14 ... ) bias or radial ... narrow is better ...or a smallish 15 would work too, just have to get some 6 lug 15's from the JY, no biggie ... these tires just HAVE to be smaller than 26.1" tall, I don't wana have the same problem of the lack of power I have with my swampers ... here's the pic:
March 15, 200620 yr I ran studded nokiian hakapalitas for a couple years, and they are friggin awesome..
March 15, 200620 yr Blizzaks are great. Very soft rubber for cold weather. Unstudded. They will wear very fast if it is warm (and you drive like I do). I'm interested in the Hakkapelitas (sp), they seem to have a good following around here...
March 16, 200620 yr I`m running with a new set of Blizzaks. I`ve only had 1 test (8") with them this winter. They held up to what they say.
March 17, 200620 yr i run wintermasters, they arent too agressive but i can drive through alot of bad stuff with them! rock on!
March 17, 200620 yr I drive up and down the Mount Washington road every day and tried Nokian WR this year. Used to run Blizzaks. WR's are the best grippy tire I have used. Also rated at 100,000 Km's so don't need to swap em off in the summer. Now all my buddies have em as well.
March 17, 200620 yr I'm using a set of studded Hankook WP401s this year and I love them, even more than my old Yoko K2s. My car lives at about 3000 ft, so it sees snow every day. Does just fine with those Hankooks.
