March 17, 200620 yr i been reading alota forums latley since i bought my 83 gl-10 n/a. i love the thing its great but i noticed i just got about 170miles out of a full tank and that doesnt seem to great i tooking 4x4ing at the begining of the tank but i wouldnt think it would effect it that bad. some info or ideas would be great. thanks. i love this place
March 17, 200620 yr A good tune up would be a good place to start. Plugs, cap, rotor, air filter, check PCV, check timing, rebuild carb if necessary.
March 17, 200620 yr From what I have seen on here a bad O2 sensor affects gas mileage pretty bad on subarus.
March 18, 200620 yr Author well i dont have a o2 sensor and i did fail to mention i did put a break in my exaust when i went 4x4ing last but i wouldnt think that would effect it. i just put a super coil on it about 2 weeks ago and i also put new plugs. i guess a new cap and rotor wouldnt hurt. i been looking for a impendinzo distro or what ever.

Average it over 4 full tanks. And do the math - the guage is not accurate, and judging by the tank mileage and not how much fuel you have put in the tank is not the proper way to calculate mileage. March 18, 200620 yr Author well i filled it before 4x4ing then i went 172 miles before i filled it again when the gas light came on which took 12 gallons which is pretty close to a full tank:headbang:

I usually come in around 20 mpg on my lifted wagon when it's driven on the street (to and from off-road only, but that is sometimes pretty far away - two or more tankfulls). So 15 mpg isn't totally off the wall.... you still need to accurately measure it without the off-roading in there. GD
