Well It's a lot that my local Subaru dealer owns that they must use for trade ins that wont sell on the lot that they sell to people that know about the yard and parts cars.

Being I grew up in W-B and my 1st Subaru (a 79 DL 2 dr FWD) was from Minooka Motors, is that the dealer you are referring to?

Thats what I was actually looking for. I found a few Loyale sedans, one GL sedan, the Loyale wagon that was there seemed to be in relatively good shape body wise...a few rust spots but nothing major. I saw a few SVX's and an XT6 in the mix..it was mostly legacy's snd outbacks, but there was a ************load of cars there. The whits outback sedan(SUS) in the pictures seemed to have a lift kit or something on it because it was definitely higher than stock and it only hasd 3500 miles on it and it was a 99.

My buddy has actually bought a few cars out of this yard for real cheap.

Did you ask about titles and a price list?

By the camera positions, it looked like you might have been prowling?

What part of PA is this in? I've got relatives in swarthmore that have been hounding me to visit, but I wouldn't mind making a side trip for that:slobber:

man,i wish the j/y's around me had that many soobs.the closest one is so disorginized that you have to really look to find the car you need parts from, the next closest has maybe 6-8 (mostly already stripped) and the last one (2 towns only) i'm lucky if they have 4-5 (and them too are pretty much picked clean)

i could live at the yard you found.

(am i the only one that just loves walking around j/y?):brow:

Nah I took those pictures today so they weren't open. As far as titles and price lists, I have no idea. There are alot of cars there that can be taken out of their and put back on the road with minimal work it seems.

not sure if it's the smells, scenary,or what but i feel completly at ease when i'm at one.

oh btw-anyone have unsafe j/y's around you.the closest one usually have stacks of crushed cars placed near the main paths you need to walk down.nothing like walking by and seeing about 9-12,000 lbs of crushed cars standing 15-20ft in the air.haven't been to that yard in several yrs cause of the unsafe feelings.

(ok,i'm ranting never mind me)

:headbang: Junkyards are like playgrounds to me! I could spend all day in a good junkyard. ~smile~

Amen to that!

I love going to junk yards and just looking around. You get a chance to stop and check out so many different types of cars. You can look at the engines and the interiors and what wheels they had and nobody hassles you.

One unsafe thing around here is that many of the junk yards are in the Great Dismal Swamp. Its a really environmentally significant wetland and the water table is getting screwed up because of all of the petrolium runoff from the junkyards. The landfills nearby don't help things either.

This is the dealer's private junkyard. I think that they must buy the wrecked cars from the insurance company that were purchased from them new to reuse the parts on them.

hmmm I wonder if they charge you new parts prices when using those parts from thier private junk yard....

No disrespect to your local outfit, but in general I have a pretty healthy distrust of new car dealers of any make.

spoke to the parts manager today. He advised me that they only use those parts for cars that are traded and need incidentals in the recon process.
