I've been real impressed so far as to where I can take my Baja! My last 2 rigs have been 4x4 trucks, and the Baja goes the same places I use to take them. I do have to be careful on hillclimbs as the Baja does not have the same approach and departure angles the trucks had. The only problem I've had was when I was 'wheelin in some loose river rock. Spun the tires quite a bit climbing a hill covered in loose river rock and while I made it to the top, I managed to knock the balance weights off one front wheel:eek: . Didn't even notice until I got on the freeway the next day for work and the steering wheel started shaking in my hands! Easy fix though. I do miss having a low range for off road, you just have to remember to keep the rev's up in the Baja! The Baja is way more fun to drive on pavement and performs more like a sports car. Plus I get better mileage then my trucks did! Too bad SOA is discontinuing the Baja, I'm glad I got mine when I did! Nice pictures by the way! Looked like a good time! If the gas cap is not the problem, it's possible that he may have a leak somewhere in the evap system. I had this happen to my last rig (Dakota) and the code was the same for a loose gas cap or evap system leak. I know it may differ from the Subaru's codes of course. Have him check the charcoal canister connections. I believe it is a black box located under the rear portion of car (at least that's where it is on my Baja). Sometimes the hoses get 'brittle' and will crack where they attach to the canister. Just clip a little off each hose so you have a fresh tight hookup to the canister. Couldn't hurt to try and will cost nothing! I'm not sure if you need to reset the ECU after doing this, but I'm sure someone on this forum can tell you how to do it if necessary. Good luck! 'Battery kill switch'..........LMAO! The switch has not gotten me, due solely to the fact I had read about it on this forum. It is awfully easy to turn it on by mistake, especially when cleaning the dash and sterring wheel/column. Spacinjason '06 Baja Turbo MT:burnout:

I'm have 2 kids in car seats and I'm able to pack quite a bit for trips in my Baja. If I can do that, I think an Outback would work for you. It won't have the space of your minivan, but it should be ample. Like someone else said, you could use a storage container on the roof. Or if it has a hitch, use one of those hitch mounted storage racks that fits behind the car. Probably a pain to get the back hatch open with one of those though. The only drawback to travelling in my Baja is that I don't have a cover for the back, so my gear/luggage is exposed to weather and to thieves. You would have your gear enclosed in the back at least. Nice thing is that you won't have the mechanical problems you're experiencing with your Chrysler product. I had a Dakota Quad Cab before my Baja, and while it was a cool truck and larger then my Baja, it seemed like something was always going wrong with it. Just my .02 cents. Thanks for the replies! I will check out the exhaust and trans member to make sure they are not touching. Seems like if they were touching, I would get a vibration noise in all gears, not just when shifting from first to second gear. But you never know, so I will definitely check it out. Thanks Subie Gal! If that's not it, I will have the dealer check it out next time I have it in for an oil change. The dealer is 35 miles from my house, but I go that way for work all the time. Thanks ericem, I probably should let the dealer mess with it (especially since they just installed the new shifter console). I would probably screw something up if I did it myself! Hey all- I have an '06 Baja Turbo MT 8k. Lately I've notice a vibration/rattle when shifting from 1'st to 2'nd gear (noise happens only during that shift). It sounds like the shifter itself or something in that area. I cannot seem to isolate it :-\ . I did have the shifter console replaced recently (replaced under warranty as the paint was coming off of it:mad:). Anyone have a clue or idea as to what it might be? It's not that annoying of a sound, but I notice it and it didn't do it when new, nor did it start immedietly after console replacement. I'm glad you guys liked it, I thought it was kind of cool! Anyone know how to change the color or have a program that will easily change the color? I would love to have a silver cutout! If anyone can do that I would be extremely grateful! I want to make a silver one! I recommend using a exacto blade to cut it out if you make one, scissors are kind of difficult! I hear ya! A little more aggressive looks would be nice, and I would have optioned for the H6 in a heartbeat if it had been available, especially a turbo H6. It's still the funnest little rig I've ever had! Spacinjason '06 Baja Turbo MT:burnout:

Thought I would post a pic of my Baja down by the Rogue River here in Southern Oregon. Took the kids down to play and swim and it gave me an excuse to get my Baja in the sand a little. Good thing you had a shovel! Smart thinking! About 5 yrs. ago I got my last truck 'wedged' after failing to climb a hill and when I backed back down the hill, the rear bumper got buried in dirt and the truck was wedged into place. No one around for miles and my 8 month old daughter was slepping in her carseat! I had no shovel! I was able to get it out using low range and rocking it back and forth. WHEW! My wife would have kicked my a$$ if she found out I was 'wheelin with her baby! LOL! Many years ago an old guy told me that when you are 'wheelin 'to go as far as you can in 2wd and when you start getting stuck, put it in 4wd and turn around.'. Good advise but not a lot of fun! You may get a check engine light if any of the hoses leak. I had that problem on my last truck (Dodge Dakota). Truck still ran fine, the CEL just annoyed me! Sometimes if they are just cracked or frayed around the edges, you can just cut a little off the ends of the hoses and reattach. Hope this helps you! Spacinjason '06 Baja Turbo MT:burnout:

I was recently down at a local park on the Rogue River here in Southern Oregon. I had brought my kids down to play in water and sand. I had backed my Baja down real close to the river in loose sand and parked it. I guess it must have looked stuck, bacause I was sitting in drivers seat with door open reading a book and this older gentleman in a Suburban drove over to where we were at. I thought 'what the heck does he want?'! He asked me if I needed help getting my car out of the sand. I laughed and thanked him then started up the Baja and pulled it forward a few feet to show him I was not stuck! He asked if it was 4wd, and I informed him that all Subaru's are now AWD. I have a '06 Baja Turbo, and was thinking of replacing the Potenza'a with a more aggressive offroad type tire. Something along the lines of BFG all terrain. Les Schwab is a major dealer in my area, and they can't seem to find anything like what I want, they can only find street performance tires in my size (P225/60/16). It's not like I want to hardcore offroad my Baja, I just think it would look sic:headbang: . Does anyone know of any options I may have, or a different size tire that would be close to my current size? I don't want to throw off my speedometer or anything by putting on an incorrect tire size. Nice company car. I haven't driven any of the previous turbos, so I cannot compare my Baja T to anything else. I like the way it performs, even though it could handle better in my opinion (the Potenzas kind of suck!). We also have a place called Star Imports here in Southern Oregon, but they just work on imports, don't sell any vehicles. Have fun with the company car! Spacinjason '06 Baja Turbo MT:burnout:
