Gas tank removal on a 87 Gl-10.

Featured Replies

How do I take it out, my Gl-10 is a 4WD and I want to know if its an easy task to do by my self.

drop the mustache bar which supports the rear diff. Then drop out the tank which uses 6 - 12mm bolts and then remove the lines. I had to do a gas tank swap on my RX a little over a year ago. The tank from any EA82 either 2wd OR 4wd will work on a 4wd;)

would a gas tank from a 86 GL 4wd wagon fit in a 2wd 91 Loyale sedan?

Ok then I just hope what ever is leaking is fixable, I don't want to damage anything major.

when removing a gas tank ,what about the tube or spout ? will it just pull right out, i am sure there is bolts holding it in ?

I think you unbolt the filler hose from th top and remove it with the tank.

you will have to jack up the passenger side rear of the car. remove the back wheel and there's a plate in the fenderwell which is the access panel for the filler neck connection in the top of the tank. I would also recommend getting all new hose clamps for the connections because this is the LAST place you want a fuel leak from. And besides, trying to get some 20+ year old hose clamps off are a pain in the butt.

yes, 2wd or 4wd, it doesn't matter since they all have the same dent in them for the rear diff.
