March 24, 200620 yr alright... here's what i want to do. i want to install 6x9's in the front doors, and the rear deck. so i can hook up the 600 watt amp and piss people off now what should i use to cut the holes? also, this is a 1986 GL sedan we're talking about here... the front doors take 4 inchers i believe, and the rear deck took 5 1/4. I think I can cut the rear deck and make it OK if I make a template and cut it with a saw... but what about clearance for the windows in the front doors? would a 6x9 hit the windows when they're rolled down? or is there another way to make a custom speaker enclosure in the door panel? Ideas, please, ideas...
March 24, 200620 yr I was going to change my speakers with bigger ones to but have decided to keep them the stock size. In stead I have two 12" Kicker subs and a 500 watt amp to do the bass.
March 24, 200620 yr In the Front doors is Easy: Just install them Over the Plastic Cover of the Speaker (I mean in the Door Panel), you can cut the Hole in the plastic and bolt it with nuts & washers... I done it. Also, in the Rear Doors, you`ll need to do more work, because you need to cut the door`s steel to make the speaker`s place. If you put it Horizontally, the magnet would not get hit by the rear window, since it can`t reaches too low. (Just take off the Plastic door cover and see). Also: I must say you that you will need to make all the wiring new, because Subies came with a common ground between front and rear sides but each side is independent. Good Luck!
