April 14, 200619 yr Specs: 1996 EJ22 (Legacy) Problem: Oil leaking into the #4 cylander burning off at the plug Solution (supposedly): pull valve cover and replace the gasket is there a write up on this? i hear it's easy to do, but i'm not sure where to begin. assistance would be appriciated. BTW, i got the solution tip from someone on www.sl-i.com
April 14, 200619 yr i was confused when you mentioned this before. by saying it's leaking into the cylinder it sounds like internal engine issues. but by saying it's on the spark plug it sounds like it's externally on the plug and leaking on the top of the plug, not internally in the engine combustion chamber.

BTW, i got the solution tip from someone on www.sl-i.com Begin by getting the valve cover gasket kit, then remove the spark plug wires, onbolt the valve cover gasket. Do NOT pry the cover off, rap it with a rubber mallot if it wont budge. Make sure all the old gasket is removed. Do not use selant. make sure the valve cover is not warped. remove old o rings. again make sure all surfaces are clean. tighten the bolts in a X pattern, do NOT over tighten as it will leak. Anyone know a torque spec for these bolts that can be put in english (like 1/2 turn past finger tight). I am guessing you dont have a torque wrench. That should be it. nipper
