October 24, 200322 yr Hello, there was this big thing awhile back about changes to the emissions laws in PA, do we need to have a cat. now?
October 24, 200322 yr Just depends where you are. We are supposed to because they do check that stuff in the bigger cities, Philly, Pittsburgh, but out by where you are, SHouldn't have to worry about it for a few more years. Get to know someone now.
October 24, 200322 yr Someone (I think Ben??) mentioned that emissions are going to be statewide next year. No more free ride for us hicks in the sticks...
October 24, 200322 yr Hey Dave, I am sure you can find some tricks in the sticks. But I guess you may be right, They may not be free......
October 24, 200322 yr Author all of my family takes their cars to a guy that doesn't even check the lights, he just makes sure it has three or more tires and passes it.
October 24, 200322 yr Gotta love being out in the country....I have a friend who inspects my cars but I haven't had them inspected in about 5 yrs now so I'd say it's time, huh?
October 24, 200322 yr As long as they don't follow the in the path of other states and have only "state run" emissions centers...
October 24, 200322 yr Check out http://www.pacode.com/secure/data/067/chapter175/chap175toc.html#175.6. ... it seems to be filled with enough legalese to look legit. I'm with Akira... my family's got a few *friends* back home, too. Shame I'm three and a half hours away. After doing a little research, looking at what it takes to get inspected in NY, I'm a little scared... no wonder I've heard those ad's claiming one out of every four cars won't pass an inspection. Take a strict enough definition, and quite a few won't pass, I'm thinking. No wonder these big shops (*cough* Firestone *cough*) find something wrong with my car every time I go to get tires.
October 24, 200322 yr The idiot I bought my Forester from just slapped the sticker on--with the CEL light on! And this is at a DEALER! The car went back the next day, 02 sensor was replaced, now needs changing again...arrrgh... But I got an '83 VW Rabbit through no problem. No reverse lights, holes in the floor you can stick your fist through, and now no brakes CT is bringing back emissions, finally, with a 2-year phase-in. Unfortunately it's private run connected to a state computer with video cameras at every location.
