Recently I switched to a '91 loyale wagon 4wd 5pd from and '86 gl wagon. The one thing I miss the most about my old wagon is the D/R gearbox. Since I do alot of caving and outdoor activities I frequently find myself in situations where I find myself wishing I had my D/R gear box back..

 

My question is; how hard would it be to switch the gearboxes and if I did switch the gearbox, would I have to cut a hole for the D/R lever? Or is there an easier/cleaner way to rig up a selector for the D/R?

You don't have to cut a bigger hole, you just need to find a DR console the right colour for your interior. You'll have to do some wiring if you want the Lo light to work on the dash.

all bolts up the same. you can use your existing driveshaft, tranny mount, and clutch assebly, axles

yep - bolts right in - shift consol is the only difference - seems to be a pretty common mod. for loyales too.......
