May 7, 200619 yr Hey: Kind of a simple question here, but i figure someone must have dealt with this before - because I haven't. Thinking about getting a 96 legacy but the carpet in the back (cargo area) is in bad shape - ie, it is just laying there not attached to the underneath. and it's got a couple of nasty folds in it so it won't flatten out either. Morale of the story - it will just be getting in the way every time I put stuff in or take stuff out - bunching up and stuff.......... any of you have any experience solving such an issue? - ie, any ideas on the best way to secure this piece of loose carpet down again? thanks.
May 7, 200619 yr Lay it flat in the sun on the driveway for a couple of hours on a hot day. If you want to get nuts with it, you can contact cement it to a piece of MDF.
May 7, 200619 yr If its a wagon, maybe a cargo tray/cover put on top of the carpet would solve it? like this one: https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/product_info.php?cPath=31_44&products_id=190
May 8, 200619 yr And you can make one from rug remnants. Home Depot sells Velcro that I buy by the big roll for projects. That works fine to hold it down and if you want you can sew a rolled edge on. All the ones I've looked at in junkyards are usually shot too.
May 8, 200619 yr Use it as a template to cut a replacement of indoor/outdoor carpet from home depot or some such place.
