EJ22 engine coolant temp sensor problem

Recommended Posts

Having trouble starting with warm engine. Proabably the engine coolant sensor. Waiting for next paycheck to replace it.

However, I also have sympton of car idling high (2000 rpm or so) when I pull up to stoplight after downshifting into 2nd. Idle returns back to normal after a second of too.

Could this be from the bad engine coolant temp sensor or does that only affect fuel mix when starting?

First check to make sure it is connected at all.

I completely forgot about this connection when I put my rebuilt motor in. I bought a code reader to figure out why the check engine light was on. Had I remembered to connect it in the first place (it was the only missed wire in the entire job), I wouldn't have needed the reader.....but it is a nice-to-have!:)

Oh, and the easiest way to tell thing is is acting up is if your electric fans kick on immediately when you start the car.
