exhaust spacer , air pump

Featured Replies

I need to plug the holes where the fittings from the air pump attach to the exhaust spacer. I can't seem to find anything about the thread pitch and diameter. Also, will an engine pass without the air pump? About 20k on rebuild, brand new cat, passed emissions in November with the pump hooked up, but swapping motor from wagon to Brat and have to take emissions test to register. (Several vehicles are involved in the above mentioned, I can go through details if needed.)

Can't find plugs, so I'll plug the fittings with 3/4" steel rod and have it welded. I'll keep the air pump or whatever it is on til I get me a Weber.

Should pass fine without it - I've run through both ways, and the cruise emmissions dropped a tiny bit with it, but were well under without it. Idle emmissions were the same.

Block it by unscrewing the pump and putting a quarter in the inlet pipe and screwing it back together.

On any engine I have out of the car, I remove them, cut the pipe and use the end of the pipe as a plug, I generally select a washer as filler - weld around the outside and fill the hole in the middle of the washer with weld too.

Or on the EA82 I just cut the end off the flange and weld the hole closed. Bolt it back to the head.
