Well, unfortunatly I was the guinea pig this time. Just so everyone knows in the future a VF-11 and a VF-2/7 do NOT share the same up pipe flange. The VF11 matches two of the mounting holes but the furthest towards the rear is about 0.25" further than on the stock turbos, much like the TD04. Just thought I'd let everyone know since it had been mentioned that they were identical.

I am not sure who told you they were the same. You should check/ask for references next time you get advice from the internet. I have built a coulpe custom up-pipes for people to accomodate the newer turbo's.

The TD04 and the VF11 share the same upipe flange.

Right, and the EA81/82 turbo's share the same up-pipe but different dp's.

Working towards it Qman, but somebody needs to actually do something with this engine instead of just dumping them like I've seen happening a lot recently. I'll see how much potential these turbo cars have.

The reasons that people keep dumping them are numerous. First and foremost is that there is not any aftermarket support and there won't be any for a discontiued motor that is 20+ yrs old. There is more power to be had, but at what expense?

Galen, do you need a flange for a TD04?

If you have a SS plange I'll take it, but if its just mild steel I'll pass. I think I'm gonna run the stock turbo for a while or maybe bolt up a VF7 while I rebuild/clean the VF11.

Its just a stock WRX uppipe. I was saving it for the next go-round, but now I'm not sure there will be one.

There is aftermarket support, you just need to know where to look. We all know we can get Delta cams, but does anyone know where to her high rpm valve trains (Ti pushrods, dual valve springs, oversize valves)? I do. Plus it helps that being in the program that I'm in at WWU gives me access to any type of machining that I could want. There will be little or at least the bare minimum of expenses for most of the mods that I'm going to do to this car.

I appreciate your zest but these do not turn the typw of rpm's to really benefit from those parts. WWU has had a storied history of automotive modifications that were truly revolutionary. Good luck but think through expensive versus benefit when building this one up.
