October 28, 200322 yr tee hee... my car will hopefully be running around by saturday, and I miss it so much... Last night I pulled the manifold, and recleaned it, and pulled off the valve covers. Tonight I pull the heads off the other engine... I'm going to use different heads. Along with that I'm going to start cleaning those, and trying to pull the engine in my car. Thursday and Friday night I'll do a little bit each night, and then saturday, New clutch kit, and my finished engine goes in. I'm considering polishing the heads and intake... but that's ALOT of work... and I could do some of that in the mornings... but still...
October 28, 200322 yr my car's almost alive again too! it's a great feeling you should take the time to port & polish the heads.. it'll be worth it when you drive the car! your sig says 88 hatchback? i thought 87 was the last year?
October 28, 200322 yr Author I think '89 was the last year. You know what sucks? ALL hatchbacks had EA81s. But if you order parts for '85-'89 hatchbacks at parts stores, they ASSUME it's an EA82 because it's after '84. So you get the wrong parts for the car, and the engine. Always order '84 parts.
October 28, 200322 yr heh, i gotta order parts for an 84 brat to get the right engine/trans parts for my hatch.. its annoying to say the least
October 28, 200322 yr Author I still can't believe I pulled a weber, jetted just right (same suggested jet numbers for EA81s) for $35! $80 for the rest of the parts, and it looks sweet. Used some cleaner and stuff on it.
