I'm looking at 98' Impreza Outback 2.2 - AWD, Auto. It happens between the 5 and 10 mile range.

 

I first thought this was torque bind but I'm thinking not because it happens when my girlfriend goes straight as well. Please advise..if you could, tell me what you think it is and how hard/expensive it is to fix.

Only when going slow?

i'd check your tranny fluid just incase... it can never hurt to change out the fluid anyhow You may also want to check the temperature of your wheels/brakes after you drive with it... and it'd doing this, maybe one of your calipers has siezed?

If it helps you any, my impreza shakes alot at about 55mph :cool: but i know that's an allignment issue....

 

edit: Oh yeah, an axle going bad COULD do that also... and maybe allignment... but thats usually high speed that'll get yah'

shaking of the car or steering wheel?

does it feel like it's from the front or rear?

 

check the lug nuts of all the wheels and make sure they didn't back out.

 

jack up each wheel and check for play and rotate it by hand to see if it feels tight or like it's catching. (this will point to wheel bearings or caliper/rotor issues depending on what you feel).

 

ball joint maybe, but a long shot.
