I have a friend that has found a Brat and wants to know if he can swap the tranny into his ea82 gl10 turbo. I told him that I thought the Brat came with a 4spd tranny, is that right? If it is a 5sps, will it move over to the ea82 car?

I believe all the 4sp trannys would have had a one piece drive line.

 

The 5sp trannys have a two piece drive line.

But did the brats all have a 4spd?

I was not sure so I browsed the brochure section.

It showed only 4sp up until 1987.

 

I'd bet they never came with a 5sp?

Later model brats all have EA81s. EA81s only came with 4 speeds. No 5 speed 4WD D/Rs.

But did the brats all have a 4spd?

 

Some came as 2WD 5 speed's, but not in the US. Very popular in Isreal.

 

US models - ALL were 4WD, availible transmissions were only the 4 spd D/R with 3.9 diffs, and the 3AT Automatic with 3.7 diff.

Thanks for the help guys. I may be getting won for cheap this week and I just wanted to get an idea of what I am picking up. Gotta see what kind of shape it is in and whether or not it is worth rebuilding. I will let you all know what happens
