June 21, 200619 yr I just got some more bad news about this #$@^ Outback. Two weeks ago the CEL came on and the code said Knock sensor.Replaced that and now CEL came back on and it's a code P0420.So it's either a catalytic converter or maybe an oxygen sensor. Here in Canada a cat is $1000.oo or the oxygen sensor is close to $200.I read in another thread that someone said to try the sensor is only $70 USD.Where are you buying for that and what is the aprt number.
June 21, 200619 yr 1stsubaruparts.com has them listed for about $95US for the 00-03 Outback. I would guess the $70US ones are Bosch. O2 sensor is most most likely the cause of the low cat error
June 21, 200619 yr 90% of the time its the o2 Sensors, its been a while since anyone has had to replace a cat here nipper
