13" Tires

Featured Replies

My question has probably been addressed before, but my searches didn't find the answer.

I've got an '88 GL I would like to someday lift a little, add bumpers/roof rack and the like.

Just wondering whats the largest 13" tire that can be can be fitted before the lift without body modifications?

Welcome to the board!

I'd bet you can't buy a 13" tire that doesn't fit.

You have to get a fairly large tire under there to start having clearance problems.

I don't think any 13's are that big.

Good Luck,

I have seen some retreads here in Aus that are 185/85R13's... So I guess thats about as big as it gets. You'd have no problems fitting those. Best bet is for some Pug's (peugeot wheels) or do a 6 stud conversion (or drill your rims, though I don't like that idea.) Then you can have 14" or 15" wheels and a wide selection of tires.

Do you plan on a lift kit (body lift) or just jack the suspension up and put some decent tires on it?

You should be able to fit 25.5" tires to your 88 without lift or body mods. Use http://www.autisticcuckoo.net/tools/units/tyres.php to figure out what sizes that will be.

185/80R13 is the biggest I've ever rolled on 13" rims. Just got some 14x5.5" 6 lug Mazda rims. Plan on rolling 195/75R14 MT if they come in that size. If not, I'll get 205's.
