July 29, 200619 yr Hello All. I have access to a 1990 Legacy with 215,000 miles. I can buy the whole car, running, looks nice. Would this be worth it to do an EJ swap? Oh yeah, I can pick it up for $300.
July 29, 200619 yr if the compression is good, even, and the motor is not using a ton of oil, go for it. you could make your money back pretty easy if there are some good parts on the car. you might even resell that legacy as-is if it is clean, and make some money that way. kinda a shame to part out clean legacies when there are so many nasty ones around.
July 29, 200619 yr thats how i got my 1990, but it rusty as crap and had a busted window(that i replaced) it runs great for a car with 245k miles. the shifter bushings are gone and need replacing, and the clutch slipping makes it near impossible to drive. but i got it for $250 and the clutch held out for a year before it started to slip, then it got worse of course. but mines a wagon. you could just rebuild the motor for $300-$400 and call it good, or you could pick up a used ej25 for a little bit more and throw that in there. ~Josh~
