Some lowlife sonofa*************** stole my car from our driveway today about lunch time. My wife heard him backing fast out of the driveway, realized it wasn't me, hollered and chased him a block down the street, the called the cops, who showed up while she was still on the phone with 911. I had left the key in the ignition as she was going to use the car. The car makes little noise so she didn't hear it start, but noticed it backing out of the driveway.

 

The car is a light silver-blue, missing the black plastic trim on the front passenger door, no dents, 5 speed 4WD,new tires on front and old tires on rear, blue interior no tears. crack across bottom of windshield , hole in driver-side headlight lense (BB gun?), assorted arts and crafts stuff in rear, lots of dog hair on seats, factory roof rack, no sunroof.

 

Any help is really appreciated.

well I will be looking around southern califronia for you. but it sounds like it was just some teenager or something that saw the keys and was like mommy i got a new ride as he proceeds to the trailer park. (not racist)

yah, news bulletin dude.. these cars arent, for the most part anyhow, very flashy or noticeable... i live and drive in some crummy neighborhoods in a large city, and rarely roll up windows or lock doors... and i never get victimized because the thing just SCREAMS "i am of little interest to you, wrongdoer."

 

Im sure people have had soobs broken into and stolen etc, it obviously CAN happen (and i feel realy bad for you, hopefully someone from the board will see it) but id bet fifty bucks if any statistical analysis were available that subarus would be on the bottom of the list as far as percentage of owners victimized.. you have to draw attention and be common to get stolen. people NOTICE a subaru. alot of people have known at least one person with one, and frequently associate the car with the person, for instance. its hard to get rid of, and easy to get caught in.

 

unfortunately, the joyriders usually grab a car then crash it somewhere... or trash it and abandon it. :mad: HOPEFULLY that doesnt happen to you... but theres no commercial black market value for a subaru, and that is what motivates most car theft. its camrys and accords they want, not 81 EA 81 weberized hatches.... :- \
