new head

Featured Replies

the passenger head on my 87 turbowagon is toasted and failed the pressure test. i was searching for a new head and came across shuck's. i've heard shuck's isn't the greatest reman but for $180 its hard to beat. it also comes with 12000 mile warranty. i don't know how much napa runs but was wondering if anyone had any experience with shuck's remans or just any advice at all. im in the everett, wa area. thanks

It would be a good Idea to find out if they are Gen 1, 2 or 3 heads.. reman gen 3 heads for 180 isn't too bad. bout average from what I have seen.

(I'm hunting for my link to the folks that rebuilt my heads.)

OR rather it ended up being that they sent me a different set in place of them and as I was so sfecific in data on the heads the guy went on and sent me Gen 3 heads intensionally instead of the gen 2's i sent him.

(paused while'st i hunt for the favorites *link*)

these are the guy's I delt with....

because I was calling them about once a month as to what i was trying to do and then when he finally got in a load of heads to reman he found a few gen 3's after i had explained to him what I had since learned from the wonderfull board we have here... he was so surprised the info i had from the board that he would keep his eyes open for this or that and when i'd call him he' would respond with a "you know" with that awareness I'm starting to wonder what other car makers have such similar tracking techniques for evolution of the heads....

he never did tell me what he found out though... but he did help out when i discovered that a single head wasn't fully refitted... it had a drilled hole but, didn't have the threads for it, and a different place was drilled and threaded that was supposed to be solid metal. :>)

real fast turnaround and i liked the customer service too.

mostr likely he's remember me if you wanna make a reference to the college kid in Texas with the subaru turbo -- if you choose to talk to Mark Glew up in PA.

otherwise,

here is more of my reasearch...
