nipper
I finally solved the gauge issue. I got a JDM gauge set from ebay, complete with factory harness and senders. It mounts in the pocket under the radio. I paid a bit much for it, but i worked it out in my head as justifed, considering how much individual quality gauges are, then the work mounting them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=190027289998&ih=009&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT they bolt right in. Now i need an adapter plate at the oil filter to screw in the senders. nipper

nipper
Looks reasonable to me and really only you can be the true judge. it came today, so the shipping was worht it. i just need to rotate the gauges 180 degrees to lean to the driverside. Whats really neat is that it plugs into the factory radio harness for lighting and the voltage gauge WOHOO! nipper
ericem
Oh, ic, i was thinking about doing the same thing then ill have auto diming, compass, outdoor, temp, tv(lol), and a mirror. But then i would have to run 12v and temp sensor through the firewall, or does it just detect the temperatrue off the glass?

There is a sensor that mounts in the grill, mine is on the license plate. The biggest PITA is finding a spot through the firewall. i use the gas pedal gromit, and that is rather crowded. The mirror kit is desighned to easily pass through things. The only complaint i have is that i have to reset mine from degree heading to degree fareinheit everytime i start a trip. i LOVE the auto dip, it works great. nipper
ericem
Hmm, auto dim would be nice, with all the lights up my rump roast. IS the mirror OEM? Or aftermarket, and is it the same size?

nipper
PICS!!!!!! i am so happy, too bad i need an adaptor plate to hook them up. it also has an audio alert from what i can tell if the temp gets too high or the oil pressure too low. There is a blue wire that looks like it would go to the oil pressure switch. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=918 nipper

dmanaenk
Me likey. I want one. No idea how this one got past my automatic searches on ebay As for adapter - why oil filter adapter? Why not oil galley plug?
nipper
Me likey. I want one. No idea how this one got past my automatic searches on ebay As for adapter - why oil filter adapter? Why not oil galley plug? there are two sending units, one for pressure and one oil temp. Right now i am handicaped, so cant really dig through the plumbing and bend over the car to use a galley plug. I am due for an oilchange so i will let my mechanic do it. When i can get back to working on the car properly (God i hope so i am so depressed about this) i will do it properly. Only thing i dont like is that they dont dim since they run off the radio harness. But im not taking the dash apart anymore this year. nipper
