photo2001
Hi All. I've got a remote starter & alarm/door lock in my 2000 Forester. The way it's supposed to work is, if the alarm is set, you shut the alarm/unlock driver's door with one remote control, (a Micro), then push the 2 buttons on the other remote control at the same time, (a DEI Valet), the lights on the car flash, then the car starts and the driver's door locks. It runs for about 20 minutes, and if you don't drive it, it's supposed to shut off and automatically reset the alarm. Everything works except that after the 20 minutes of engine running, the motor shuts off, and the driver's door UNLOCKS (which shouldn't happen), and the car alarm doesn't reset at all. I think the programming got messed up with the recent tree falling on it, battery going dead, major service episode. Getting it to the dealer is tough for me, and I'm wondering if I could re-program it myself. There is an 800 # on one of the remotes, guess I should call it. Anyone familiar with these setups? Legacy777
Sounds like an aftermarket alarm, so I don't see why you couldn't do it yourself.

They are all almost wired the same, but the programing steps all differ nipper
