Edit: Has anyone done there own bearing replacement? I looked through my manual and through the USRM and came up with nothing. Maybe I haven't looked close enough at the manual but I just would like to know what the proper procedure is for removal/replacement. I tried using a press to do the work today but I felt that if I kept applying pressure the whole knuckle was going to snap. I realize that the hub can be pressed out of the center fairly easily but I got my adapter stuck in the bearing so tomorrow I will get that out then press out the hub and try to figure out the rest but hopefully someone on here can provide some insight.

Thank you,

Bryce

No everything is pretty different. Even the bolt pattern on the hub is wrong.

My used knuckle came from a junkyard in Colorado called McLaughlin Auto. They gave me the best quote from an online search, and sent me a knuckle with a good bearing and hub for $45 shipped. It probably wouldn't hurt to look them up and call them.

I agree with jamal get you one from a wrecking yard, except I would get one from close to home instead of mail order being you need it right now. When you take it off be sure and mark the top bolt of strut flange with a line from edge of bolt to flange and reinstall it to that mark so you will keep the alinement close.

Hi all,

Does anyone know if an SVX knuckle will fit my legacy? I am curious because this is the only one I can find on ebay and it looks the same but I don't have the ability to judge dimensions based on a picture. Based on research I know the knuckle will fit 92-97 SVXs but will the same part fit my car? If anyone has a website where I can find this out for myself that would be great as well.

Thank you very much,

Bryce

one easy way is car-part.com. they have a built in hollander interchange and it will list by the part you picked what will work.

Thanks, I used car-part.com and found one from a 95 legacy 20mi away for $40  I'll go pick it up tomorrow and hopefully I can get my car back on the road.

I got my "new" knuckle a few days ago but unfortunately the bearings on it are shot and the ABS sensor is dead  unfortunately I didn't really take a close look before I left the junk yard  but for $42 I can't complain too much. Tomorrow at work I'll press out the old bearings and see if I can't re-use the ones from the knuckle that came off the car. The good news is that tonight I got the old knuckle off along with the CV shaft. More bad news is that the new shaft didn't come with a new roll pin. Can anyone tell me the size of the roll pin so I can make sure to get the correct part? Has anyone ever just used a cotter pin? I think it would work better than an off the shelf roll pin since that wouldn't have a flanged end to hold it in place like the OEM style that should have come with the shaft.

Thanks again,

Bryce

I do my wheel bearing, if you are having trouble getting the bearing housing out make sure you have removed the snap ring. Also if you will type in wheel bearing, I done a post a few months back with step by step details on this topic. Also when you go to push the bearing housing out put your adapter on the heavy metal race to push. The post mentioned above is very good. I used it to help me with my first bearing, also I bought a spindle and hub with a bearing from the wrecking yard and put on my car, and then I used the old one to practice on.

Bump for new question, please read top post

Thank you,

Bryce

get a new bearing, almost everyone i have done has blown apart when you go to press it out. i wouldnt chance it on the roll pin, the last thing you need is depending on which side for it to come out and on its way around snag the o2 wire or something.

Yes I agree you will need a new bearing after pressing the old one out, most do come apart.
