Bleeding cooling system on Ej22 swap ea81 turbo car

Featured Replies

I'm going to have a bung welded into the top of mine for a bleeder of some sort. It doesn't help you now, of course.... maybe park with the car tilted so that the radiator cap is at the higher end?

Didn't Setright mention something a long time ago about filling the cooling system on the EJ motors through the upper radiator hose? Maybe you could take the upper rad hose just barely loose and the air would come out....just a thought...

I tried that but ill try it again.

How is the ea81 radiator setup in comparison to the ej22?

Without that bleeder screw on the ej22 radiator, it'd be very tough to get all the air out.

Can you tilt the radiator at all?

idea! flip the car on its side drivers side up, open raid cap.

Actually I was thinking of doing that with the lift just lift the left side of the car gently so the rad cap is the highest point. Ive got a spill free funnel at the shop so it wont just pour out all over the place.

thay make this really cool tool. it pulls a vacuume on the whole cooling system so there is no air in it. then you hook a hose up to it and it pulls the coolant into the system. no air bubbles ever.

here is one from Mac tools. but you can fine them elsewhere
