Power Outlets to stay on all the time?

Featured Replies

My wife loves her 2007 Outback LL Bean wagon, except that the power outlets all go dead with the keys off, and her cell phone doesn't get enough "charging time".

Is their any way to get the power outlets to stay on all the time?

Thanks

You can either wire in an additional outlet connected to a constant source, or fused directly to the battery.

Or you could run a constant wire to the existing lighter in place of the current power lead.

There's probably a relay, with a coil powered through the ignition switch. Take it apart and install a jumper. Chrysler actually sells such "dummy" relay as a factory part, for the same purpose.

just a quick note, using the cigarette lighter cord all the time for a cell phone ,will shorten the life of the battery pack

well, not really, im mean u could charge ur phone like 1milion times with the car never being turned on and ill bet there will still be 11v in the battery still.

He might just be talking about the phone battery...

oh i see , well he is partially right, and wrong, at the beginning u need to break in ur brand new lithium ion battery pack in ur cell phone, so u need to charge it,then drain it till completely dead, then charge, kill the battery again, then do it a few more times to be safe, then u should be able to charge it every day. But still the mroe often u charge it , it does shorten the life still, but not in my opinion. My moms phone is like 3 years old got charged every day and still holds a charge. Its a motorola T720.

read the manual , using the house charger, 4 hours , the car charger will charge it very fast , and alot of people leave leave it on the car charger to long and forget about it
