my clutch bearing is whinning and my engine is dying when i press the clutch in. ive never heard of it but i guess it makes since if its binding. maybe someone may have an answer?

replace the TO bearing. If it starts seizing up, it'll put more load on the engine with the clutch in and make the engine want to die. Kinda like trying to take off from a stoplight without giving it any gas but not quite as bad.

hey jeremiah, how are you doing?

mines started whining about a month or so too and now within the last couple of weeks its dropping about 150 rpms when i push the clutch in at a stop light. but, i also need a clutch, i messed it up in the mudpit at wcss8 been slipping ever since and getting worse and now the to bearing.

so anyway, yeah its your throwout bearing making the noise, i'd replace it before it totally goes.

If you wait, the TO bearing will seize, and wear right through the pressure plate. Then you will have to replace both. More $$$

+1...

I dont mean to coach driving habbits... and I am only 16... But one of the main reason this happons is from drivers leaving their foot in the clutch when at stop signs, lights, ect!!! It is designed for short periods, like shifting.... Dont take it personally, just wondering if thats how you drive... if not, then.. um... yeah hope it helps someone else....
