Interceptor2k
I am trying to set the timing on my 92 EA82. I can't find the green wires, by the wiper motor, that are supposed to be connected prior to timing. There are some green wires that are connected and always have been (maybe that's why my car runs poorly). Does anyone have a pic that they can post? Or can give me a better idea of where to find? Thanks!
GeneralDisorder
They look something like this: If they are already connected then your timing will be locked at 20 degrees, so yes your performance will suck. GD
Interceptor2k
Also, The book has conflicting info regarding disconnecting the vaccum advance. I don't think that my car has that, and the sticker under the hood does not mention it.??

mikeshoup
If the underneath of your hood doesn't mention a vac advance, then you don't have it.
Interceptor2k
Thanks everybody for the help! The car runs much better now that the connectors are unplugged! Hopefully my gas milage will improve as well!

Hopefully my gas milage will improve as well! Should - you were losing about 14 degrees of max timing advance, and about 8 degrees of retard at idle. Plus the ECU was in "test mode" all the time which runs a higher level of diagnostic functions continuously. GD
